01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the charming village of Saint-Étienne-de-Bolton, Coop du Grand Bois offers a delightful culinary escape that perfectly blends rustic charm with inventive, family-inspired cuisine. This cozy, family-owned restaurant is a true hidden gem in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, inviting guests into a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like a home away from home.

The culinary experience here is refreshingly unique, with a menu that expertly showcases creative takes on classic breakfast and brunch favorites. Imagine savoring perfectly poached eggs benedict — but with a luxuriously rich twist of duck — or enjoying generous plates of eggs accompanied by a thoughtful selection of meats, fresh salad, and crispy potatoes. The flavors are impeccably balanced, never too salty, and clearly crafted with patience and care, as noted by delighted diners who praise the kitchen’s commitment to quality over speed.

The delicate pastries, freshly baked and paired with refreshing homemade lemonade, add a touch of sweet simplicity that enhances the overall dining experience. Whether you choose to sit inside the quaint dining area or relax outside on the covered balcony, the restaurant’s ambiance is always inviting, casual, and infused with genuine hospitality. This is a place where friends and family gather comfortably, and the attentive staff go above and beyond to accommodate larger groups, making every visit memorable.

Beyond the table, Coop du Grand Bois also offers artisanal delights for you to take home — from homemade meat pies and jams to thoughtfully portioned frozen meals — extending the warmth of their kitchen into your own.

For those seeking a brunch spot that embraces both originality and tradition, combined with an authentic local vibe, Coop du Grand Bois is a must-visit. It’s a small treasure that promises not just a meal, but an experience steeped in care, flavor, and heartfelt welcome.

Great hidden gem! We went there for breakfast we had the eggs with two choices of meat and salad and potatoes. Everything was perfectly cooked not too salty. The young water was very nice and informative. You can also pick up home made meat pies (frozen) jams and small portions of frozen meals. You can eat inside or outside under a covered balcony. Will definitely go back!

I now have a new standard for "Home-style excellence". Service, on a Saturday, was high level; very friendly and welcoming. We're anglophones and we struggled with the menu, but the server didn't miss a beat; he explained the offerings to us and made some great suggestions. (Sorry it's only four but I almost never give five stars)

Nice lunch experience. The bison burger is nice, and the salad it came with was enjoyable. Friendly staff. Child friendly, we were offered a booster seat and there is a changing table in the toilet. At the counter, local artisanal products are offered. We recommend a little detour to have lunch here, or to buy local products.
